There was never any question that Paul would be anything other than a photographer. He was taking pictures, then developing and printing the results, by the time he was five years old. At sixteen, he was given a full time position on The London Evening Standard, the youngest ever to join the staff. After seven years, Paul moved to the Daily Mirror and two years later to The European having been personally chosen by Robert Maxwell as Chief Photographer.
News and features photography took Paul around the world covering war and famine, sport, politics and celebrity. Paul helped record major events such as the miners? strike, the Lockerbie bombing and the fall of the Berlin wall. He?s been shot at, chased by wild elephants, poisoned, and nearly drowned in a hurricane covering a four-month transatlantic yacht race. |
In 1990 Paul began his freelance career concentrating on fashion and portraiture. He was a regular at the fashion shows of Milan, Paris, New York and London where he was commissioned by the major magazine titles. His photography caught the eye of Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Vivienne Westwood and many other designers who commissioned Paul privately to capture their work.
His portraits of presidents and prime ministers, Hollywood celebrities, rock legends, sports stars and royalty have appeared in major magazines all around the world and are widely syndicated. His subjects have included Ronald Reagan, Prince Charles, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela, Mick Jagger, Queen Nor of Jordan, Goldie Hawn, Michael Caine and many more. acquired a reputation of gaining the confidence of his subjects many of whom have specifically requested working with him time and again.
Over the years he has received numerous awards for his work including winning the Ilford Features photographer of the year three times, British Picture Editor Feature Photographer of the year three times and many other single image awards. Paul?s lifestyle and interiors photography is regularly featured in books and magazines in the UK and internationally particularly in Elle Decoration, Living Etc, GQ, Vogue, The Times, Observer, The New York Times and Paris Match. Paul?s work has featured in advertising campaigns for Vodafone, Conran, Debenhams, Phillips and Swarovski. |
